Evidence Explorer / MS-N213 / Unsupported cure claims and safety / Appraised November 2, 2026
714-X is a modified camphor product promoted as an immune-restoring cancer treatment. No peer-reviewed human clinical study has shown it to be safe or effective, and it is not approved in the United States.
Evidence at a glance
- Formulation: a nitrogenated camphor derivative with mineral salts; manufacturing consistency is not assured.
- Human evidence: no peer-reviewed trial, case series or case report establishes safety or efficacy.
- Preclinical evidence: unpublished animal work reviewed by NCI did not show anticancer effectiveness.
- Regulatory context: not FDA approved; subject to a U.S. import ban.
- Evidence label: unsupported cancer-treatment claim; safety and product-quality uncertainty.
What was studied
NCI’s PDQ review found no clinical studies reported in peer-reviewed journals. Newspaper accounts and testimonials cannot verify diagnoses, concurrent treatments, imaging, follow-up or survival.
714-X has been administered by injection near groin lymph nodes and by nebulizer. Describing a route or schedule does not establish an effective regimen, and this record does not reproduce manufacturer dosing as a recommendation.
What this evidence cannot establish
Claims about immune activation, nitrogen delivery or “somatids” have not been validated as cancer-control mechanisms in humans. Immune or laboratory changes would not establish tumor response.
With no controlled human evidence, effects on response, recurrence, progression, survival, quality of life and clinically important toxicity remain unknown.
Practical safety context
Injection-site redness, tenderness and swelling have been described, but absence of systematic safety studies means uncommon or serious harms could be missed. Unregulated production adds sterility and consistency concerns.
Injection or nebulization of an unapproved product can delay effective care and expose vulnerable patients to infection or pulmonary injury.
Questions for the care team
- Has the exact product been independently tested for identity, sterility and contaminants?
- What verified human outcome supports the claimed benefit?
- What evidence-based therapy or clinical trial would be delayed or displaced?

Source note: The NCI PDQ and peer-reviewed Canadian evidence review were checked. The PDQ notes that its summary is retained for reference because no strong new research has emerged. No qualifying human trial was identified as of November 2, 2026.
This record is educational. 714-X is not an evidence-based substitute for cancer treatment and should not be injected or inhaled outside authorized clinical research.
