IV vitamin C in pancreatic cancer

Investigational randomized signal

Median survival was 16 months with pharmacological ascorbate plus chemotherapy versus 8.3 months with chemotherapy alone (HR 0.46; 90% CI 0.23–0.92).

MS-N003 · Sources checked October 11, 2026 · Cancer-control research

What was studied?

People and setting: Metastatic pancreatic cancer with gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel

Evidence basis: Small randomized trial; 36 randomized, 34 treated

What can we conclude?

A small trial needs independent confirmation; it does not establish a cure. IV exposure is not reproduced by oral vitamin C.

Safety and practical context

Kidney disease, kidney stones and G6PD deficiency require particular attention; high-dose IV treatment needs specialist oversight.

Questions for the care team

  • Does this evidence apply to my cancer, treatment and goal?
  • Does the exact preparation or delivery method match the study?
  • What benefit is plausible, what could go wrong, and what care must continue?
